The festival encompasses over 120 international films presented at cinemas, galleries, cafes and bars around the Perth. It draws attraction from 12000 patrons and 50 national and international guests over 13 days, as well as it includes a unique Academic component which was introduced in 2012, industry interactive sessions, live performances, master classes, visual art exhibitions, and other activities generated by the event or independent curators.
It sees over 500 films submitted for selection from local and global filmmakers, and it features world and Australian premiere films of all genres. The event has a predominantly strong representation in experimental and documentary films.
The celebration focuses about cinemas, ideas, politics, personality, history, access and equity.
